After the pipes burst: rapid strengthening of the foundation of a private house

  • Target:

    Subsidence of the floor slab

  • Location:

    Dnipro region

  • Technology:

    Floor Lifting

  • Year:

    2025

Type of work: strengthening of the foundation (soil) under the concrete floor slab, filling of voids beneath the slab and restoring the slab-to-soil contact, partial lifting and leveling of the floor slab.

  • Implementation of work: June 2025.

The house was built in 2024:

  • a single-story detached house of complex layout, overall dimensions 13.4 m x 14.4 m;
  • strip foundation.

During a visual inspection, representatives of LLC “GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING SYSTEMS” detected uneven settlement of the floor slab in part of the house following a utility pipe burst.

Following the structural survey (audit), company specialists found that the soil layers within the active zone beneath the ground floor had compacted during building operation due to additional loads and water leakage (pipe burst), which led to the formation of voids and uneven floor settlement. The subgrade beneath the slab was found to be uneven, insufficiently compacted, and unstable. According to geodetic survey data, elevation differences of the floor relative to the nominal 0.000 mark ranged from -5 mm to -44 mm.

The company’s engineers developed a technical project for a set of works, including strengthening the foundation beneath the concrete floor slab to a depth of up to -3.8 m from the slab top, filling voids beneath the slab and restoring slab-to-soil contact, partial lifting and leveling of the slab using geopolymer injection technology (GEORESIN).

The entire scope of work was completed within 3 days. The client received a 10-year warranty on the completed works.
